A driving instructor in Shanghai has been arrested after defrauding his students of a whopping 600,000 RMB by charging them for classes that never happened.

The instructor, surnamed Fan, worked at the Shanghai Shentong Driving School has swindled over 140 students since March, according to the Shanghai Transport Commission.

The lessons were arranged unofficially to allow the students to get more driving experience so they could take their test sooner. Fan would ask the students to pay in advance and then just never arrange the lesson.

He was also discovered to have faked official documents by using a copy of the school’s seal.

The school has been fined and Fan has been arrested for fraud.
