The two drivers involved in the now infamous Beijing car crash involving a Lamborghini and a Ferrari have been tried and found guilty of dangerous driving in a Chaoyang court.

One of the defendants, Tang, was found guilty of dangerous driving and sentenced to five months in jail and fined 10,000 Yuan. The other driver was sentenced to four months in prison and fined 8,000 Yuan. The men had already paid 320,000 Yuan in compensation for public damages.

On April 11, the two defendants raced their cars through a tunnel near Beijing's Bird's Nest Stadium on Datun Road around 2 am. The men sped down the road, chasing each other, and crashed into a tunnel wall and a road divider. Both cars were badly damaged, and 24 year old female Lamborghini passenger Xu, suffered from a fractured lumbar.

The Ministry of Transport reported that the drivers reached speeds between 179 and 215 km, which is more than three times over the speed limit of the tunnel. The two vehicles were allegedly attempting to drag race.

Must be nice to be able to own a high end exotic car, not know a wit on how to drive it, and then crash it. I guess money grows on treees for some Chinese...

The fines are really insignificant for these little emperors. 8-10k plus some jail time that they probably won't end up serving anyway isn't much of a punishment for extremely dangerous drag racing close to the centre of Beijing.
