Beijing Woman on Subway Mocked after “Fake Pregnancy Belly” Drops on Floor
Feb 27, 2013 By eChinacities.com

Miss Zhang, a resident of Beijing’s Tongzhou District, takes the busy Batong subway line to work every morning. As is typical with the Beijing subway system during rush hour, Zhang rarely gets a seat when she gets on at her stop at Liyuan Station. Last week, Miss Zhang read an online discussion entitled “silicone pregnancy belly,” which when put on, gives the illusion that you are pregnant, and thus allowing you that golden opportunity to be given a seat on the subway. Zhang spent 300 RMB on the product, which she then proceeded to wear during her next subway trip. However in a scene that must have confused surrounding commuters, the fake belly came loose amid the pushing crowds, eventually dropping to the floor.

After experiencing her fair share of mockery, an infuriated Zhang went online to try and find the dealer of this “silicone belly.” Unsurprisingly, the post had disappeared. Zhang brought her fake belly to the Tongzhou Liyuan Industrial and Commercial Center to complain that the quality of the product wasn’t up to scratch. The employees begged to differ, saying that the belly in question “wasn’t bought for the needs of daily living,” and with that the complaint was rejected.

300 Yuan is totally worth it for a seat. You gotta divide it by however many times you get a seat. If you just add-in round trip that's already 150 a seat.
