An Insider's View of Chinese Modeling Contests
Aug 22, 2009 By eChinacities.com

Recently, a netizen with the inside scoop on what goes on behind the stage in modeling contests in mainland China decided to spill the beans. Let's take a look at this insider's roundup of “secrets” behind modeling contests.

There will be a pre-contest lineup of the contestants before the judges on the day of the contest. So even before the models take stage, the judges would have already determined the final results during this early roundup.

First, the front view and presentation. The focus is to check out the overall physique and balance: For example, the length of the legs in ratio with the rest of the body.

Then, there's the side view.

Finally the back view, checking out the total physique and build. If there are tattoos or marks anywhere on the contestants, it is marked down as a deduction of points.

The same judging routine goes for the male contestants as well.

The first line-up of the contest is the bikini or sexy swimwear show.

Then, the contestants go into the solos.

Next, the Qipao line-up.

The evening gown line-up follows.

And last but not least, a group shot!
