Jack Ma surprised fans at the Mission Impossible 5 Shanghai premiere by appearing as a surprise guest and chatting onstage with MI star Tom Cruise.

Alibaba invested in the latest Mission Impossible film through Alibaba Pictures. Ma and Cruise, speaking in front of over a thousand fans, discussed their own challenges in life that once seemed “impossible.”

At the premiere, Ma said that he has always enjoyed watching movies. “When you want to know about the world, or the future of the world, we must look at movies. It is a way to better understand young people.” Ma added that he hoped that the Mission Impossible franchise can continue on and hopes to see part six and seven soon.

Ma also spoke on Cruise, “When I saw Mission Impossible, I thought, how can a man be so handsome while in this situation?”

Alibaba Pictures helped back Mission Impossible 5, while Alibaba Group helped coordinate online ticketing and development support. MI 5 has already raked in more than 20 million Yuan in the Chinese box office in pre-sale tickets alone.

If china had arthouses..where the govt. allowed distribution of foreign films based on the theater owner's prerogative..They'd all play sh*t like "Saw 5" and "Scary Movie 10"..Guaranteeing the dumbing down of art.
