Despite its relative newcomer status, the Xi'an Lu Commercial Zone (西安路商业区) has quickly become one of the premier shopping, dining and entertainment destinations in Dalian, second only to the popular downtown shopping spot, Qingniwaqiao (青泥洼桥). While the area is best known for the Roosevelt Center and Fujia Xintiandi, there's also great shopping to be found at the Changxing and Jinhui Shopping Centers as well. In recent years, the area has become a symbol for development and culture in Dalian, known colloquially as the place where you can find anything you'd ever want.
1) Roosevelt Tianxing International Center View In Map
From the outside, the Roosevelt Tianxing International Center (罗斯福天兴国际中心) bears some resemblance to a sailing ship, stretching long and thin with a tall “masthead” entrance at one end. Inside, you'll find 6,000 sq. m of shopping, dining and entertainment excitement. The mall features four large department stores, 500 boutiques and a rather impressive five-star cinema. In particular, popular clothing stores such as Zara, H&M, Bershka, Uniqlo, Vero Moda, Jack Jones and Selected can all be found on the first few floors, while a Chinese and Western food court and the aforementioned cinema can be found on the fourth floor. Come for the shopping, grab a bite to eat, and the end the day catching a flick.

2) Fujia XintiandiView In Map
Fujia Xintiandi (福佳新天地购物广场) on Xi'an Lu is another popular shopping complex with six floors; one under ground and five above. The basement features a Wal-Mart, as well as ladies' and children's wear, wedding articles, and a jewelry store. On the first and second floors, you'll find cellphones, casual and sportswear, and a Suning appliance store. On the third floor you'll find luggage, women's wear as well as a hot pot restaurant, a barbecue buffet, and a Korean restaurant. The fourth floor is one big arcade, while the fifth floor is a reasonably priced food court, featuring our favorites: pizza and seafood.

3) Changxing Shopping CenterView In Map
Changxing (长兴购物中心) is a shopping center with a 3,000 sq. m garden out front and a huge glass skylight stretching from the 2nd to 4th floors for shopping with a view. The basement bookstore has an impressive inventory, and is inexpensive to boot. A large supermarket occupies the first floor, which sells some of the best produce in Dalian. There's an electronics supermarket on the second floor—just be wary of knock-offs! On the third floor you'll find a department store, restaurants, cell phones, music, sports equipment, health and beauty products, and toys. The fourth floor is devoted to furniture.

4) Jinhui MallView In Map
Jinhui Mall (锦辉商城) is a huge department store and business area with over 30,000 sq. m of space spread across seven floors. Store space here is contracted out to a variety of vendors, so you'll get a wide range of service quality—some quite good, some not so much. You also probably won't see as many people here as at Roosevelt Tianxing, as most of them are mothers and younger shoppers. The high prices tend to attract a posher crowd in general, though all that goes out the window during major discounts and sales. Another reason for the discrepancy in popularity is the confusing layout; it's easy to get lost in Jinhui Mall!
Where: Jinhui Mall, 667 Huangsha Lu, Shahekou District, Dalian (near Xi'an Lu)

Opening hours: 9:00-21:00
