Qin Shi Huang was only 13 when he ascended the throne. Prime Minister Lü Buwei planned and designed the tomb, and General Zhang Han supervised its construction. It took 38 years to build. The Terracotta Warriors and Horses is the world’s largest underground military museum.

The tomb was discovered in 1978. Former French Prime Minister Jacques Chirac said in his 1978 visit to the site that, “The world has seven wonders, and now that the terracotta warriors have been found we can say that there are eight miracles.”
