Didi Driver Posts Woman’s Information on Porn Site after Bad Review

Editor’s Note: Didi Dache drivers in China take bad reviews very seriously. There have been numerous reports of drivers harassing customers by phone or text after a bad review or negative feedback. This translated article reports an incident in which a Didi driver posted a woman’s personal information on a porn site, saying that she was an “experienced sex worker,” in Guangzhou. The woman was harassed to such an extent that she had to go to the police for help.

A Didi Dache driver tried to get revenge on a passenger in a very twisted way after she gave him a bad review on the app.

On a rainy evening last week in Guangzhou, a young woman named Xiao Min studying near Tianhe called a Didi Dache. She walked to the nearest plaza and called a car.

The driver, Mr. Huang, was in a terrible mood. He complained constantly that it was difficult to see the road on rainy days. He had seven cancelled consecutive orders that day and other issues. He asked Xiao Min why she had been standing so close to the road, and why she did not wave him down. After 10 minutes, he started to quiet down.

A Bad Review for a Bad Driver

When Xiao Min completed her payment later that evening, she remembered the driver’s venting and discontent. Even after not responding, she just continued to complain. The driver even cursed her. She decided to give the driver a low rating, and wrote that he had a bad attitude.

Xiao Min believed that Didi software was designed to evaluate the company’s drivers to ensure quality service. Therefore, the drivers will take the evaluations as a way to truthfully evaluate themselves. However, she did not think that a bad review would get her in any kind of trouble.

An Experienced Sex Worker?

On July 10, Xiao Min then received a WeChat friend request. The request said, “part-time.” “I usually work as a part-time tutor, so I thought it had nothing,” said Xiao Min.

However, after chatting with her new WeChat friend, Xiao Min realized that he believed she was a sex worker. The WeChat user told Xiao Min that he had seen her information on a pornographic website. A man claiming to be a part-time driver posted the information, which included Xiao Min’s WeChat username, phone number, and photos.

The post used explicit language to portray Xiao Min as an experienced sex worker and used the public photos from Xiao Min’s WeChat.

Xiao Min continued to receive strange calls and WeChat friend requests. She angrily tried to call the driver’s cell phone, but it had been turned off.

The Driver Disappears

Unable to stand the harassment, Xiao Min reported the incident to the Tianhe police. Police called Mr. Huang’s cell phone twice and asked him to assist in the investigation. Although Mr. Huang said he would help, he never came to the police station. When police called him a third time, he had shut his phone off. Police are currently investigating the incident.

A different Didi Dache driver said that if a driver receives a one-star rating, then their individual ratings will drop. This makes passengers less willing to choose that individual driver. In addition, companies penalize drivers who do not fix their ratings after a week. Therefore, drivers are very angry when they receive bad reviews.

Reporters found that it is not uncommon for drivers to retaliate after bad reviews and negative feedback. Drivers often call passengers and abuse them, send texts or even make verbal threats. However, this is the first case that a driver has posted passenger information on a pornographic website.

Didi Dache Guangzhou has also conducted an investigation to attempt to verify the incident. The company has made many calls to the driver’s listed phone number but received no response. Didi said that it will continue to try to contact the driver in the incident. With the information currently available, the company decided to permanently freeze Mr. Huang’s account. The company will actively cooperate with the police’s investigation. A spokesperson from Didi said that violations to and attacks on users are strictly prohibited.

Standards at the firm have certainly dropped since Apple invested in the company. One wonders what they spent the money on.

Retired, you're full of it. Chinese drivers are cheats, everyone knows it. They hate Didi because it holds them accountable and makes it difficult for them to cheat. You being in a bad mood does not mean you unload on the passenger. And there is no excuse for what the driver did to retaliate.

I can't speak for others, but a taxi driver is a lousy, stressful job, that usually involves a driver with a bad attitude occasionally. If you want a courteous driver like a UPS driver, you have to pay for it. I don't know what is more disturbing, the entitlement of the younger generation in their safe space bubbles expecting everyone to be nice to them, or the arrogant rich young startup prick who owns the transport service who expects all drivers to be angels for low pay while he brags about being a high tech genius billionaire. This story basically sucks, try dealing with a cocky New York cab driver who speaks bad English any time in comparison. I have 3 incidents where a cab driver tried to over charge or rig the meter, but compared to the other trips, Chinese taxi drivers are decent and I hardly ever say anything good about China. The woman sounds like a spoiled bitch, but running over a water puddle next to her the next time I see her would be enough, not stalking her life.
