Zhejiang Company Forces Employees to Shave Their Heads

Zhejiang Company Forces Employees to Shave Their Heads
Apr 22, 2013 By eChinacities.com

Xiao Xiao, a young employee hasd been working at the Zhenhai Jingcheng Power Engineering Company in Zhejiang for six years now, and had done pretty well for herself in her professional career. But things went a bit pear-shaped earlier this year when management decided to introduce a new policy requiring employees to completely shave their heads.

Those who complied would be awarded 10,000 RMB, while those who declined would have to pay 10,000 RMB. Employees that refused would be fired. Oh and one more thing: the new ruling also required workers to shave their heads clean on a monthly basis or face similar punishment.

While the logic behind the move it still a bit murky, it appears that it was conceived as some sort of “fresh start” motivating/team building activity for the company’s employees.

Unsurprisingly, nine female employees refused to shave their heads, with three of them opting to pay the subsequent fine. The other six (which included Xiao Xiao) soon received a note from the company instructing them to pack up their things and leave.

Following the ordeal, five of those who were sacked sued the company boss Mr. Dong for illegal dismissal, though during discussions Dong stated that he had already forked out 300,000 RMB in paying employees for shaving their heads, and felt like he himself had been wronged (Um, what?!). The case is currently going through trial proceedings.

"OK, any new management ideas?" "I read this book about letting the employees have a say in how they perform their work. Then they will feel proud and even do a better job!" "(mumble) Stupid idea. Next!" "I know! We make all the girls shave their heads! We can shame all of them! If they don't, they pay 10,000 RMB (for our next KTV party) or we fire them!" "Brilliant! Haoda!!!"

" Again, the same low class foreigner taking a stab at Chinese blokes at every opportunity" typical chinese thinking. blame the foreigner. i am not the one taking stabs at chinese men. self inflicted. and guest: why don't you walk up to the next foreigner you see with a chinese woman and ask him to go to a dark ally with you so you can slap him with your slipper. chinese men are the only men who have wet dreams about slapping other men with their slippers
