Netizens Mock Phallic-Shaped People’s Daily HQ Building
Apr 16, 2013 By eChinacities.com

It seems China’s architects have done it again:in addition to the laughable underwear-shaped CCTV headquarters, officials have now chosen a phallic building design to become the new People’s Daily headquarters. The building is currently under construction and is aligned next to the CCTV building in Beijing’s CBD area.

Ironically, the nickname used by many Chinese netizens to describe the People’s Daily (人民日报) is “Raping People Daily” (日人民报), due the fact that the party-mouth propaganda machine is well known for its production of false reports. Whether the authorities are aware that by creating a phallic-shaped building they have hilariously reinforced this nickname is unknown.

China's architects sometimes are the so-called 'foreign experts'. The CCTV Headquarters' architect is Rem Koolhaas, who is Dutch. And Tsingtao beer 'is' German... try and mention this if you are fed up with Chinese pride and want to see some confusion.
