If we’ve learned anything this year, it’s that a “private” naked photo shoot taken in public in China is almost certainly going to end up on Weibo. Yesterday, photos of women standing naked in Dali’s Erhai Lake as part of a photo shoot went viral on Chinese social media.
The woman is pictured posing completely nude in the lake and partially nude by a tree on the shore, accompanied by a male photographer. She responded to the photos posted online, telling reporters that they were a personal artistic project and that the photo shoot had been done very early in the morning so that no one would be disturbed. The driver taken photos of her shoot and posted them online without her permission.
This is not the first nude scandal to occur in Dali. This past May, a couple posted artistic nude photos taken at night around the city. The two took photos near various buildings and tourist sites in the city. Netizens were angered by the photo, and told the couple to “Leave Dali!”
Dali detained the couple on suspicion of posting pornographic material online (the photos were very scandalous and sexual). The woman and man were sentenced to 15 and 13 days in administrative detention.
