Weibo CEO: No More Models in Swimsuits and Lingerie

Weibo CEO: No More Models in Swimsuits and Lingerie
Jun 02, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Furthering their quest to become the MySpace of Chinese social media, Weibo announced today that the site will ban images of models in swimwear and lingerie.

Weibo CEO Wang Gaofei made the announcement on his own page earlier today.

Wang wrote that, “swimwear and black lace,” will not be allowed, and added in a half-joking tone, “if you really can't figure that out, just act cutesy or sell bags.”

This seemingly casual statement is no joke. The new rule underlines Weibo's new drive to “purify,” their site and to combat what the site calls “erotic content.”
