Un-bee-lievable: Jiangxi Man Breaks World Bee Bearding Record

Un-bee-lievable: Jiangxi Man Breaks World Bee Bearding Record
May 16, 2014 By eChinacities.com

In bee news, remember the farmer from Chongqing who covered his naked torso in bees? Well his glory has been stolen by a man in Jiangxi who has just broken the Guiness World Record for longest time wearing a suit of bees.

Ruan Liangming, a beekeeper, sat topless and completely covered in bees for 53 minutes, before being certified as a record breaker by an official representative of Guiness World Records.

Over the course of an hour, Ruan was slowly covered by roughly 100,000 bees.

The act of covering oneself in bees is known as ‘bee bearding’, and is a popular activity worldwide. Other bee-related world records include most bees worn on the body, which is currently held by Indian national Vipin Seth, who broke the record by wearing 61.4 kg of bees.
