Over 8,000 People Stranded at Kunming Airport Due to Heavy Snowfall and Rain
Dec 16, 2013 By eChinacities.com

Kunming’s Changshui airport had to cancel 152 flights by the end of the day on December 15 due to rain and heavy snowfall. The airport was in chaos as some passengers sat on the tarmac for hours only to finally have their flights cancelled in the early evening.

According to reports there was not enough staff to deal with the high number of angry passengers, over 8000, who had no where to stay that night and no food. Airport staff at check-in were eventually forced to ‘evacuate’ as the crowds at the check-in counter became to much to bear.

This is not the first time that Kunming’s Changshui airport has ground to a holt due to bad weather. It seems the Eternal Spring city can’t really cope with other seasons.
