Mall in Dalian Debuts Extra Big, Hot Pink, Women Only Parking Spaces
Jun 27, 2014 By eChinacities.com

A mall in Dalian has made the incredibly patronizing move of creating extra big parking spaces for women, for their own ‘safety’.

The spaces are also bright pink-every woman’s favourite colour- and say ‘women only’ on them. The move is supposed to make parking easier for female customers, because as everyone knows, they can’t compete with the awesome driving of Chinese men.

The idea is copied from that bastion of equality and women’s rights, South Korea, which has recently spent millions of dollars on revamping the city’s parking spaces to make them more ‘woman friendly’.

The mall insists that they aren’t sexist however; they’re just being considerate by accommodating the limitations of women and their tiny minds. They also pointed out that the bright colouring makes the spots easier to find, for when women get lost on their way back to the car. So sweet.

I love how this article tries to spin this as somehow misogynist. I guess "whites only" drinking fountains were really racist against white people, suggesting they weren't as good as blacks at drinking water.

Imagine if the drinking fountains for whites were made "easier to use", that would be insulting. Can you understand the difference?

So the bus seats set aside for white people in the front of the bus, thus easier to get to and from, were really insulting to whites. Makes perfect sense.

How is it not misogynist? Because it's aiming to make things "easier" for women? It's making the conclusion that all women are bad at parking. How is that not sexist?

How is it making the conclusion that all women are bad at parking? The problem is that this is misandrist by providing a service for women, but not for men, but people really want to believe it's sexist against women, so turn it around into misogyny. The article author made the claim that it was because women are bad drivers. Look at this objectively, not an ideological slant. Were "whites only" seats racist because they made the conclusion that white people are bad at finding seats, and needed special accommodation?

This is totally different. You mix everything. Those pink parking place are equivalent to blue disable place. Are women disable compared to the rest of the people (i.e. men)? No! Anyway, chinese men in general sucks as much as women at driving.

Making a false premise and using big words doesn't make you cool. In fact this is one of the weakest false premises I've seen.

Explain how it is different? In both cases, one group of people is given special accommodations, and you come to the conclusions that special accommodations are insulting. They are analogous. If you want to argue that it is different, then back up your claims. No one is saying women are disabled... you're just setting up a weak straw man argument. If giving one group of people special privileges (such as parking spaces) is insulting, then you would need to accept that it is insulting in all cases, including when one group of pepole is favored based on skin color.

Since no one is arguing that big words make you cool, that's completely pointless. Also, what false premise?

By the way, I'm also against positive discrimination and quota like it's common case in USA, especially based on skin color So yes giving one group of people special privilege is insulting.

There is no such thing as "positive discrimination". There is simply discrimination, which I oppose in all cases. When one group is treated better than another group based on skin color or gender, it is wrong, in my opinion. How is it insulting? If it were insulting, whites would not have created special privileges of "white only" bus seats, or restaurants, unless they were intentionally insulting themselves. I seriously doubt that segregation was really anti-white.
