On February 24, Beijing’s Meteorological Observatory released yet another yellow warning regarding air pollution, and advised citizens to refrain from setting off fireworks. Despite the warning, fireworks were set off across the city, leaving a noticeable smoky smell in the air. 25 of Beijing’s 36 air monitoring stations have detected serious pollution levels, with the PM 2.5 levels said to be over 300 in many parts of the city.
