Guangzhou Post Office LED Reads “No Guo Meimei” to Attract Quake Donators
Apr 24, 2013 By eChinacities.com

Remember Guo Meimei? The socialite princess who almost singlehandedly brought down the reputation of the Red Cross Society of China back in 2011? Although maybe you know her better from her recent claims that she was “too rich to need to sell sex” in the wake of the Sanya sex party scandal.

Needless to say, such is her reputation that a post office in Guangzhou’s Yuexiu District was seen on April 23 displaying an LED message outside its door which read “This post office has no Guo Meimei. Disaster donations don’t include postal fee.” Despite staff stating that it was a “system error”, it does seem like it was an attempt to attract donations for the recent Ya’an earthquake. Donations given to the post office were handled by the local branches of the Red Cross Society, which is still going through a credibility crisis due to the Guo Meimei incident and the handling of the donations in the past.
