Foreign Drivers in Shenzhen Reminded to Get Chinese Driver’s License

Foreign Drivers in Shenzhen Reminded to Get Chinese Driver’s License
Oct 30, 2013 By eChinacities.com

A reminder for all foreign national driving cars in Shenzhen was recently issued in local Chinese media. The reminder stated that all foreigners who intend to drive in Shenzhen must obtain a Chinese driver’s license before getting behind the wheel and failure to do so will lead to a 2000 RMB fine or 15 days detention.

This is not a new rule but Shenzhen traffic authorities suspect that many newcomers may not be aware of this following a spate of incidents involving illegal foreign drivers.

Moreover, it is not permitted to drive motorbikes or electric bikes with an “E” number plate. Anyone wishing to ride a motorbike or electric bike must get the relevant Chinese driving license first.
