15 year old Zou Jiahang was found dead in his dormitory after being beaten for several hours by instructors at his horrific training school after he had tried to escape. Zou had been suspended from school, and his parents decided to send him to a special training school for kids with disciple issues instead of just letting him sit around at home. The school, located in Yuzhong, Chongqing, takes in “problem,” students to correct their bad habits. Zou had only been in the school for 15 hours when he died at the hands of the instructors.
In the training center's advertisement they claim that they have, “never beaten a student,” and adhere to “counseling based,” treatment, “supplemented by military training.” On the afternoon March 22, shortly after checking in, Zou attempted to escape the training school. He was caught and beaten for several hours by instructors. At 11 am the next day, students found Zou in the dormitory with cold hands and feet. He was rushed the hospital and pronounced dead.
It took several days and a police investigation for Zou's parents to actually find out what had happened to him. No students would rat on the instructors because they were too afraid of getting beaten. Two days after Zou died, his parents went to the school in person, but no student dared to tell them the truth. On March 27, the police shut down the school and the students all went home. Away from the violent instructors, the students finally told Zou's parents the whole story. Seven instructors from the school are currently under investigation.
