Time to call in Mr. Holmes it seems. A Chinese businessman was found dead in a foreigner’s apartment in Guangzhou after he’d brought 100,000 RMB with him to do business there on April 20.

During the morning of April 19, Mr Mian, 32, from Ningxia, withdrew the money from an ATM. Soon after, his friend Hu Lin overheard him agree to go to the foreigner’s apartment that evening to do business.

Mian last answered his phone at 19:20 that evening, telling a friend that he was in an apartment complex in Zhujiang New Town, but after that he stopped answering his phone. Concerned because of this, and because they knew he was carrying a lot of money on him, his friends quickly filed a police report.

On April 20, police found Mian dead on the sofa of the foreigner’s apartment in the Bolin International Apartment Complex. There was no blood around the scene of the crime, leading authorities to speculate that he’d been suffocated by a pillow.

The 100,000 RMB that he’d brought with him was nowhere to be found. Security camera footage shows the two men enter the complex together and the foreigner, said to be a Caucasian male, leave alone at around 00:40. Police are currently looking for the foreigner.
