Beijing Implements 3-Year 100,000 billion RMB Pollution Cleanup Plan

On March 28, the Beijing Municipal Committee held a conference on “ecological civility and environmental construction,” where four issues including air pollution, water pollution, garbage, and illegal construction were all discussed.

This year, Beijing has seen intense air pollution occur, hanging in the air for days at a time, which subsequently attracted mass attention both in China and internationally. In light of this, Beijing has implemented a plan to tackle these environmental issues, which will cost over 100,000 billion RMB over the next three years.

The plan, which will apparently be undertaken like “military orders,” hopes to tackle Beijing’s air and water pollution, as well as clean up garbage and build more forests around the city.
