Beijing Bars Introduce Gender Neutral Bathrooms

Beijing Bars Introduce Gender Neutral Bathrooms
Jun 15, 2016 By eChinacities.com

Starting in May, a number of bars in Beijing’s Gulou area instituted gender neutral toilets. Bars that now have gender neutral toilets include Café Zarah on Gulou Dong Dajie, Twins City in Fensiting Hutong, The Pool Bar in Nanluoguxiang and Adams in Sanlitun.

Gender neutral bathrooms are marked by a circular logo with a figure in the middle. The figure is wearing a skirt on one leg and pants on the other. This means that the toilets are open to people of all genders. UN Woman China and UNDP’s Beijing office also feature gender neutral toilets.

Gender neutral toilets benefit transgender people, fathers with small daughters, mothers with young sons, and adults with elderly parents who need help using the bathroom.

We tried this in Finland. Disastrous results. This would only work if everyone have to leave their bags and other belongings outside the toilet, so they couldn't stare themselves for 10 minutes, trying to powder their nose.

But...? With these bathrooms, innocent Chinese girls may get a glimpse of the big floppy laowai penis and realize the truth about the tiny Chinese penis... that's outrageous!

in my honest opinion i think its just a way for china to cut costs and be cheap as always ... neutral gender, only have to build one bathroom ... i hardly see china doing something which is not to just cut corners and costs

One stallers are pretty much no brainers...There's nothing "liberal" about proclaiming a one stall, "gender neutral"..The training center I worked at only had one urinal in the men's room, nothing else, if you had to take a dump, you used the women's ...Both one staller's..Not a problem..Just lock the door if yer in or knock if yer out....The problem involves multiple patrons...No woman at the training center was going to tolerate a man in the women's room when it came to multiple patrons..We had kids and adults at the center.
