Guangzhou Watchdog: Wildlife Running Rampant, Sex Festivals & More

Guangzhou is about to host a sex culture festival, a film festival and a food festival. 1)  Guangzhou International Food FestivalView In Map
This festival has taken place annually since 1987. It attracts many tourists and expatriates with its confluence of food, entertainment, trade and tourism. Guangzhou is widely acclaimed as a hotbed of culinary delights and Chinese delicacies, which is why it is such a fitting location for this festival. Make sure to go with an empty stomach!

2)  NORDOX Nordic Documentary Film Festival View In Map
The 6th Nordic Festival in China is branching out to Guangzhou, having originally been a Beijing-based event. One of the perennial themes this year is the political and social make-up of North Korea, and a highlight reel of the most memorable films from the past five festivals. All five Nordic countries are well represented in a festival that seeks to spread knowledge and discussion about Nordic culture in China, and bring ever more artistic and ground-breaking ideas to public attention.

3)  American Chamber of Commerce Charity Ball
Charity Balls hosted by the ACC in South China are prestigious occasions attended by many Senior Chinese officials and Consul Generals from various countries who are based in Guangzhou. This event is done in partnership with several NGOS such as the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation.

4)  9th Guangzhou Sex Culture Festival
The 9th Guangzhou Sex Culture Festival will take place at the Jinhan Exhibition Centre on November 12-14. Visitors can look forward to pole dancers, belly dancing performances and underway fashion shows. If this sounds tempting, read on here!

1)  Guangzhou to Introduce Wildlife to City
Guangzhou has opened several wildlife entry points, and invites the wild animals of its outlying areas to enter the metropolis to "live and multiply". Sound weird?  That’s what many local residents think too and worries are being voiced that the coexistence of man and animal might be less than harmonious.

2)  New High Speed Subway Line Planned
Nansha District recently won a UN price for best metropolitan residential area, and is now planning to improve even further by building a high speed subway connection to the city centre within the next few years. When finished, the trip is estimated to take 20-30 minutes.

3)  Hooley’s is Moving to Zhujiang New Town
Fans of Hooley’s Irish Pub and Restaurant take note! The ever popular music, drink and dining venue is moving from its location on Tianhe Beilu to 8 Xingsheng Lu in Zhujiang New Town with a new opening date slated for some time in December (to be announced). The venue will throw a "Bon Voyage" party on November 26th and those who want to be the first to know the opening date of the new venue can drop off their business cards to receive email updates.
