Shenzhen’s Xili Lake Resort Reopens

If you’re looking for an escape for the city, or just a relaxing weekend of pampering, look no further. After five years of closed doors renovation, Xili Lake Resort (深圳西丽湖度假村), the first resort to be built following the reform and opening up of China to foreign visitors in 1979, will open to the public once again. The extensive refurbishments have finally been completed and the resort is expected to open in the coming weeks. Xili Lake Resort, whose original name was “Xili Reservoir Resort”, is known as Shenzhen’s prime scenic spot and enjoys the reputation of being the top of its kind in the country.

Xili Lake Resort is located at the foot of the Qilin Mountains and on the bank of Xili Lake in Nanshan District. The resort is surrounded by charming natural scenery and is close to Qilin Mountain Village, Shenzhen Safari Park and Shenzhen University City. Public transport is also extremely convenient, with 6 public bus routes going directly to the resort’s entrance. Xili Lake resort occupies a space of over 480,000 square metres, with over 400 villas, lake view flats and luxury and standard guest houses.

Besides the breath-taking scenery, Xili Lake Resort is also famous for its imperial architecture, the most spectacular highlight of which is a 1280 metre long corridor as well as a large number of classical, ancient pavilions and villas. Another highlight of the resort is the Lingbo Pavilion, a three star restaurant that serves exquisite Cantonese and Dongbei cuisine. The revolving restaurant and lobby bar also serve a delicious range of Western specialties for even more top class dining choices. Moreover, the multi-functional imperial palace hall located on the first floor of the Lingbo Pavilion boasts a 200 square metre large dance floor with top class acoustic and lighting equipment. Meanwhile, Xili Lake Resort’s outdoor leisure and entertainment choices cater to all interests and abilities. Golf, tennis, fishing, horseback riding, swimming, car racing, skating and shooting are just some of the activities on offer at the resort.

The chosen site of the Eighth Asian Table Tennis Championships in 1986 and a magnet for top political leaders and celebrities, the “new” Xili Lake Resort will without doubt return to its previous glory and splendour. If it’s a retreat you need from the city or just merely a relaxing weekend of pampering, then a trip to this newly re-opened resort is not to be missed. What’s more, with the convenient transport to Xili Lake, there’s absolutely no excuse. Xili Lake Resort is located just 10 kilometres from the city centre, and is a mere eight minute drive from Window of the World, Folk Culture Village, Happy Valley and the scenic areas of Chinese Overseas Town. Shenzhen International Airport, Shekou Harbour and Shenzhen Railway Station are only a 20 minute drive from the resort.
