Kunming University “Sells” Top Graduates on Taobao

Kunming University has opened a shop on Taobao to “sell” its recent top graduates. The “talent shop,” offers up the resumes and contact information of one of the university's 65 best students for 1000 Yuan. The 65 were chosen from the university's graduating class of 4,500. After setting up an interview and making a decision, the company is reimbursed their 1,000 Yuan investment.

The “talent shop,” has attracted over 200 million views online, and the little-known university has gone viral. At first glance, the site looks a little strange, almost like human trafficking, which has only added to its intrigue.

The student's photos are posted on the website. The pictured job-seekers wear matching white t-shirts and name tags and are pictured at a number of different angles.

2014 was the most difficult year for job-seekers yet. Luckily, 2015 is shaping up to be slightly better. This year, over seven million Chinese college students are out on the hunt for their first job, but the number of open jobs has increased by 220,000 since last year. This won't be the most difficult year in history for young Chinese job seekers but it still won't be easy!
