A man in Guizhou Province recently had a special visitor: A monkey who he had saved over four years previously.

Xiao Zhijian lives in the Mayang River Nature Reserve and was working outside when he saw a group of moneys sitting in front of his house. One of the monkeys was looking at him, and Xiao realized that it was in fact, a monkey he had met before.

52-year-old Xiao told reporters that he had first encountered the monkey in March 2010 when he went to cut firewood in the hills. He saw the Francois’ langur monkey, a very rare species, with its leg in a trap. The monkey was injured and had lost a lot of blood, so Xiao took it home.

He nursed the monkey back to health before deciding to free it back into the wild.

According to the Guiyang Evening News, Xiao hugged the monkey ‘like an old friend’ when he saw it again.

That's a great story. A nice break from people acting a fool on planes and joining terrorist groups.
