Chinese Driver ‘Forgets’ to Change German License Plate on Car
Oct 15, 2014 By eChinacities.com

On the afternoon of October 9, on Zhuyong highway in Zhejiang province, Mr Zhong was stopped by the traffic police. The problem was that his Land Rover, which he had purchased in Germany, still had the German license plate affixed to it.

The driver had originally planned to drive the Land Rover from Germany all the way to China, because he didn’t know that foreign license plates coming into the country had to first go through customs to receive an entry certificate.

As a result of his mistake, he had to pay a fine of 200 RMB, and he lost 12 points on his driver’s license.

Makes no sense to buy a land rover in Germany, then have it shipped to China. Land Rovers can be bought here already. In all likelihood, he "Forgot" to remove the license plate from a stolen German vehicle that was shipped to china by an international car thief syndicate. He probably paid considerably less for the said vehicle. I lived in the PI for a year and saw numerous stolen vehicles there with the EU plates still on them. OVer there the police dont care if the license plate stay on, so the Filipinos simply leave them on as a status symbol. Go figure...

Because a traffic law was enforced without a foreign *person* being implicated! Call the media! Call the police! Oh, it's been taken care of.
