Xi'an Nightlife

Xi'an is not known for its vibrant bar and club scene. Choices for quiet evenings out are far more numerous than those for raucous benders, but that doesn't mean Xi'an is without its nightspots. Meander down Defuxiang lane, for instance, and choose between dozens of teahouses, coffee shops, and bars. Beers in this area go for around 15-35 each, and it is customary to order two six-packs at one time to keep yourself and your friends supplied for an hour or so.

Most nightlife centers around the Drum and Bell Towers. Two large movie theatres, the A Pang Gong and Northwest Film City are located in these areas. English-language features are sometimes shown with Chinese subtitles, but many of the movies are dubbed into Chinese. Be sure to clarify at the ticket counter before going inside.

The largest and liveliest club in the city goes by the name 1+1 Disco, and is as close to a taste of home as you're likely to get. Live music prevails, as do live DJs and a healthy dance floor. Find this place at 285 Dong Dajie, a 15-minute walk from the Drum Tower.
