Aug 09, 2011 By eChinacities.com

The traffic safety situation in Lanzhou is looking pretty grim recently. In the first half of the year, there were 349 reported traffic accidents citywide in which 93 people were killed, 392 were injured and which caused 1.13 million RMB in property loss. These figures are pretty normal for a six-month period. However, during July, 31 people were killed in traffic accidents, 12 more deaths than were statistically expected. Particularly upsetting, in the pre-dawn hours of July 29th there were three traffic-related fatalities and nine injuries in traffic accidents in Yongdeng.
