A tour bus traveling from Jilin province to Dandong city ran over the side of a bridge on the way, claiming the lives of the bus driver and ten passengers. The ten passengers were all Korean nationals. At the time of the accident, there were 26 Koreans, a tour guide, and a bus driver on board. All of the bus's documentation was in order.
According to the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the bus was one out of six that were traveling to Jilin, Dalian, and Dandong. The Koreans aboard were part of a government research expedition doing research on history and administrative management training.
