Taiyuan Bans Rideshare Services, Offers 100 RMB Reward for Snitches
May 26, 2016 By eChinacities.com

Taiyuan began a three month campaign on May 22 to crack down on rideshare services including Didi Kuaiche and Zhuan Che. The city plans to crack down on illegal taxi operators and strive to create an “orderly environment” for taxis and passengers. Didi Kuaiche, Zhuan Che and other rideshare services have been listed as “black cabs.” As part of the campaign, citizens will receive 100 RMB for reporting illegal black cabs.

The new regulations include a crackdown on the use of illegally obtained credentials and taxi license plates, rideshares, embezzlement, online taxi scams, passenger rejection, bargaining taxi prices, and other illegal acts. Taiyuan Railway Station, Taiyuan South Railway Station, Taiyuan Wusu International Airport, and the city’s major bus stations will be targeted.

Citizen informants must provide a written report with video and audio evidence (including the license plate number, site of the illegal interaction, live video of conversation, etc.). The information must be detailed and accurate and the video and audio must be clear. When the citizen’s information is verified and processed, they will be rewarded 100 RMB.
