Starting today, South Korea will issue five year multiple entry visas for Chinese citizens. A number of countries have been following the lead of the United States and relaxing regulations for visas for Chinese tourists. Last November, the United States began issuing 10 year tourist visas for Chinese tourists and five year visas for Chinese students studying abroad. This saves a number of Chinese tourists and students the cost of having to reapply for visas every year.

On January 19, China and Japan relaxed visa regulations as well. Chinese and Japanese citizens can apply for three year multiple entry tourist visas. High-income citizens can even apply for a multiple entry five year visa. On March 9, China and Canada made an agreement to both offer 10 year tourist visas.

The Australian government plans to institute a three year multiple entry visa for Chinese citizens. At the moment, Chinese tourists can only get a one year multiple entry tourist visa to Australia. The country plans to add a three year business visa for eligible Chinese.

A Guangzhou travel agent predicted that the countries who have relaxed visa requirements for Chinese citizens will experience a dramatic surge in tourists from China.
