Shenzhen Woman’s Lawsuit Against Apple Dismissed
Nov 10, 2014 By eChinacities.com

A Futian woman had her case dismissed by the court as she attempted to sue Apple in claiming that the preloaded apps had invaded her privacy, Shenzhen Daily reports.

The woman, surnamed Yao, was upset when she discovered that some preloaded apps such as compass, game center, safari and voice memos, could not be uninstalled and deleted. She claims that the apps stole her personal data, information, and that their usage generated extra fees.

Her demands were for Apple to redesign the phone so that the preloaded apps can be uninstalled, and for transparency with regards to monitoring and using personal data.

The court dismissed her case, as it said that Yao was aware of these app issues when she bought the phone, and that the presence of these preloaded apps didn’t actually affect the iPhone’s usage.

Apple has responded and said that the iPhone do not invade users’ privacy, so the claim was groundless.
