According to the newest statistics on the Shenzhen Transportation Commission’s website, during January and February of this year, the Shenzhen Port has seen a container throughput of 3,532,500 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), representing a 5.92 percent increase over last year. During the same period, the Hong Kong Port’s container throughput was 3,481,000 TEUs—51,500 behind the Shenzhen Port.
