Five of Forbes China’s Most Innovative People list live in Shenzhen. Wang Chuanfu, Board Chairman of BYD; Wang Jian, President of BGI; Wang Wei, President of Shunfeng Express; Zhang Xiaolong, Senior Vice-President of Tencent; and Wang Tao, founder of DJI Innovations all gained a spot in the top ten.
The list is compiled based on five standards: technology based commercial success, role in that success, bringing noticeable change to their industry, creation of a new user group, and future potential to bring about ‘the next big thing’.
Editor-in-Chief of Forbes China, Zhou Jiangong, suggests that Shenzhen build up its education system to create hubs of innovation such as famous universities in New York and Los Angeles in order to further attract innovators to the city.
