Shanghai is set to receive heavy downpours as Typhoon Phoenix, classified as a strong tropical storm, moves up from Zhejiang Province.

The peak of the storm will continue on from midnight of September 22 for the whole of September 23, with heavy rain across the entire city, and extremely heavy rain in certain areas.

The city is now implementing safety measures in order to reduce the impact of the rainfall, focussing on evacuation and underpass management.
