Shanghai Surpasses Beijing for Airport Passenger Traffic

According to statistics from the General Administration Civil Aviation of China, Shanghai has surpassed Beijing for airport passenger traffic in the first half of this year.

Data from the Civil Aviation Authority shows that 41,578,000 passengers passed through Beijing Capital Airport in the first half of this year, whereas the combined total of passengers who passed through Shanghai’s Pudong and Hongqiao airports totaled 43,215,400 passengers.

It is estimated that at the current rate of growth, Shanghai passenger throughput will reach 120 million passengers by 2020.
