Shanghai Metro authorities have employed a new security detail to deal with subway beggars and people taking free rides on the subway.

More than 100 full time and 2,300 part time security officers will be on duty at stations and on subway trains across the network. Their main duties include watching out for fare evasion, beggars and illegal advertising, such as advertisements for document forging.

If caught, people who violate the Metro rules could face fines of 50-500 RMB
