China Eastern Airlines cancelled two flights to Japan yesterday after Typhoon Neoguri moved closer to China’s coastal region. The flights were bound for Okinawa, which was pounded by 100 mph gales and torrential rain this morning.

The airline canceled outbound Flight MU287 from Pudong International Airport to Okinawa's Naha International Airport in the afternoon, and return flight MU288.
Okinawa residents have been warned to stay at home or seek shelter as schools were closed for the day. Trees were uprooted and over 50,000 homes are without power in the area.
