Shanghai Implements Real-Name Registration for CNY Fireworks Sales
Feb 02, 2016 By eChinacities.com

Shanghai has set up a real-name registration for citizens who wish to purchase fireworks for Chinese New Year. Residents must give their ID card number, address, telephone number to the salesperson upon purchasing fireworks. The type and number of fireworks bought by each person will also be recorded.

Fireworks will also be banned within Shanghai’s Outer Ring Expressway. These new regulations are part of the city’s strictest crackdown on fireworks in history.

The Shanghai government began giving out special license to sell fireworks yesterday. These licenses are only valid during the Spring Festival period. Businesses selling fireworks must have at least three staff members trained in fireworks safety. These employees must have training and pass an examination on fireworks safety.
