Shanghai Buses Amp Up Safety with Remote Control Fire Extinguishers

In an effort to increase safety, Shanghai buses will now be fitted with remote control fire extinguishers that allow drivers to put out fires without opening the hood.

Once a fire has been detected they only need to press a button and the device will react within ten seconds to put out the fire quickly and with minimal danger.

The new safety measures will be welcome in Shanghai as bus fires have caught a lot of media attention in the past few years, most recently in July last year when a tour bus dramatically caught fire in Pudong financial district.
