SAFT: TV Shows and Commercials Must be Clearly Distinguished in China
May 02, 2016 By eChinacities.com

The State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) recently released a notice on the standardization of television shows and commercials. Television shows and commercials in China must be clearly distinguished. Television shows cannot promote “deleted scenes,” or “uncut versions,” as advertisements and so on.

The notice includes the following points:

1) Television shows will be investigated pre-broadcast and post-broadcast by censors

2) Title credits must include the issuing authority, license number, and TV production license number.

3) Television shows cannot advertise “full version,” or “uncut version,” of an episode or “deleted scenes.”

4) Television shows must air a list of cast and crew before cutting to commercial at the end of the program.

SAFT previously released regulations in 2011 that banned the incorporation of commercials into television shows.
