A red alert for torrential rain was issued last night, June 23, at 19:52 by the Guangzhou Meteorlogical Center.
The affected areas include Yuxiu, Liwan and Haizhu Districts. Flooding was reported this morning in various areas of the city.
The Meterological bureau advises residents to stay indoors or get to a safe place as soon as possible. Kindergartens, daycares and elementary schools have been temporarily suspended.
