Transport officials have predicted record numbers on China’s roads and waterways during Golden Week this year. The Ministry of Transport revealed on Thursday that they anticipate roughly 644 million travellers during the national holiday. That’s more than the combined population of the European Union and Japan put together.

The Ministry of Transport has prepared an additional 860,000 buses and 21,000 passenger ships across the country to deal with the rush- an estimated average of 92 million a day.
