Over the course of July, the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet, saw a substantial increase in the number of national tourists. To satisfy the surge of visitors, exhibition hours have been extended for the summer season (May 1-October 31). The palace is now open an extra 3.5 hours, with the original opening hours of 9:00-16:40 changed to 7:30-18:40. In addition, from July onward the Palace only accepts 4,000 visitors per day, allowing approximately 100 people to enter every 20 minutes. Visitors are allotted one hour for sightseeing and cannot go over this time.
