Pizza Hut, KFC McDonalds and Starbucks all Implicated in Expired Meat Scandal
Jul 22, 2014 By eChinacities.com

Several of the biggest international brands in China have been found to have links with the disgraced Shanghai Husi Food meat supply company, including McDonalds, Pizza Hut, KFC and Starbucks.

The company has been ordered to cease operations whilst government quality control inspectors have seized their products for investigation. They were found to have deliberately lied and misled McDonalds quality control inspectors, as well as illegally extending expiry dates and reprocessing old meat so it could pass inspection.

Starbucks, who has previously sourced meat from the company, has begun removing sandwiches from its shelves after the scandal broke loose yesterday, although it hasn’t been confirmed that they received expired meat from the supplier.

According to Zhang Hui, a quality control manager at Husi, repackaging and mislabeling expired food was common practice for several years before the company was exposed; all that was required to sell the substandard meat to popular fast food chains was approval from a senior executive.

KFC, Pizza Hut and McDonalds have all announced that they will no longer be working with Husi Food, and many branches are now offering a reduced menu as meat supplies have been packed up for inspection.

Yes, there's actually nothing new here, they only made a big deal about this because big names are involved like Starbucks, McDonalds, etc. But all the other small players that actually sell expired stuff get away everyday. I know because I know someone close who told me that their job is to get expired calcium tablets in the market and then they just put back in the grinder with the new stuff and then resell them. Sounds familiar eh? Man, can't eat fastfood now because they're all expired, Can't drink milk because they're all laced with melanine, can't eat Chinese food because they all use that "digou" oil thing, can't eat vegetables and fruits because all the farmers use chemicals (nongyao)! We are literally left to eat shit!
