Ningbo Entertainment Overview

The nightlife in Ningbo is similar to that in most Chinese cities, where a growing number of bars and KTV boxes fringed with neon dot the city. Many of the waiters in bars such as the True Love Disco Club and Bourbon Street speak English, making ordering drinks easier for inexperienced travelers than in many other Chinese cities. One other popular form of entertainment in Ningbo is shopping, and many visitors choose to start at the pedestrianised Little Goods Market by the Chenghuang Temple which is open late.

The Ningbo Grand Theater stages a variety of performances, from western musicals such as Sound of Music, to traditional Chinese performance arts and movies. The program at the Fenghuang Baihua also features Chinese opera and movies, as does the Ningbo Concert Hall

Ningbo celebrates the usual calendar of Chinese festivals from Chinese New Year to the Mid Autumn Festival, but also has its own range of local celebrations such as the China Ningbo International Tea Culture Festival where visitors can taste tea, talk tea and learn about tea-culture every spring. The Xu Xiake Tourism Festival in May is used to promote culture and trade in the region, and is on the list of the China's top ten festivals according to the government. Other local festivals include Cixi Chinese Waxberry Festival, the China Fishery Festival and the Ningbo International Fashion Festival, which is used to support the textile industry in the region.
