“New Godfather of Chinese Rock” Xie Tianxiao in Kunming Mar 16

Xie Tianxiao, dubbed by many as the “new godfather of Chinese rock,” will perform at Kunming’s Camel Bar on March 16. In 1997, Xie formed rock band Cold Blooded Animal with collaborator Li Ming and Ningxia drummer Wu Rui. The band was known for its raucous live performances that lit up the Beijing rock scene. In 2006, Xie became the first musician to receive a formal invitation by the Italian government to perform at a cultural festival in Italy.
