National Holiday Traffic Restrictions in Shanghai

National Holiday Traffic Restrictions in Shanghai
Sep 30, 2014 By eChinacities.com

Downtown areas of Shanghai will see traffic restrictions implemented during Golden Week from 15:30 until 23:40 Tuesday until Friday.

Restrictions will render Puxi off-limits between Huaihai Road to the south of Qufu, Tiantong and Liyang Road in the North. The Western limits of the zone are Chengdu Road and Xizang Road. This will leave the Bund completely inaccessible.

In Pudong, the area between Lijiazui Ring Road, Sibu Street and Baidu Street are off-limits to vehicles, while those roads themselves will still be accessible. Nansuzhou Road, Henan Road and Remin Road, and the area enclosed by these roads will be off-limits to bicycles, scooters and mopeds.

All Metro lines will run, except Nanjing Road East Station, Lines 2 and 10, which will be shut to avoid overcrowding. Buses 145, 167, 576 and 805 will stop operating during this period for the same reasons, while buses 20, 33, 42, 49 and 55 will have their routes shortened. The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel will also be shut out of fear of overcrowding, which is a real shame.

In general, there will also be a great police presence in the city to ensure everybody’s safety.
