Nanjing Supermarket See New Rules Forcing Employees to Catch One Thief a Month

One Nanjing supermarket has implemented a strange new policy: staff must catch at least one thief a week, otherwise their manager will be fined 100 RMB.

If a thief is caught however, the thief will have to pay ten times the fine.

The store manager told reporters that although the policy seems bizarre, they have no other option. Although their shop isn’t big, things get stolen all the time.

Apparently the policy is already working as a staff member yesterday already leapt into action by chasing a thief who tried to make off with a bottle of alcohol. He was unsuccessful however, as he ran into a car and was knocked down.
